A
Note from Afar
Dear Shaumbra,
We
just got your message and are returning the call. We’ve
been waiting for ages to hear from you, we even wondered
sometimes if you’d forgotten about us. Then, not
very long ago, you sent a telegram via Angel Express
that said, “Good news – we finally did it!”
and we’ve been celebrating ever since! Now we’d
like to send a message back to you:
From: Your Angel Families
To: Each One of Our Dear Divine Humans
Re:
Your Mission
It
was half past forever when you left. We didn’t
really want you to go, but of course you insisted. After
playing so long together we knew you were the ones always
running ahead, always playing the fastest games, always
getting into the biggest mischief – so it was
pointless to try to talk you out of it. And as much
as we hated to see you go, we all knew that if somebody
didn’t figure it out, none of us would survive.
So you left us to go off on this crazy adventure that
would take you to some far away place called Earth.
Occasionally
you’d send us back a celestial postcard with an
update on your progress, and you often sounded pretty
miserable. But you’d always sign it “Stay
tuned, I’m not done yet.” So we kept waiting.
And waiting. Sometimes we’d hear on the Angel
News Network about things you’d done – crazy,
outrageous stunts you pulled or impossibly difficult
circumstances you’d gotten into – and we
wondered if it was really true. In a way, it sounded
just like you, busting out like you always did. But
we also wondered how you could possibly forget yourself
like that. Didn’t you remember where you came
from? Who you were? Wasn’t it obvious that you
were the most amazing creator? How could you get so
lost? What an amazing creation it must be.
So
we’d watch the reports and marvel at your choices.
What adventures you’ve had! Sometimes there would
be a personal story, really highlighting your grit and
stamina. Sometimes the report would be global, and we’d
see the impact that you were having, amazed that you
couldn’t see it yourself. We wept as we saw you
crash and burn, and then watch in awe as you picked
yourself up, over and over, and kept going.
Sometimes
when one particularly intense game was done, you’d
let go of your body and just fade away, so tired and
lost. Other times you couldn’t wait to get back
in and play another round. Those times when you seemed
so lost we dearly wanted to come running, wake you up,
and remind you that it was just a game. But you made
us promise never to do that. You had picked some very
special angels to stay at your side and whisper into
your heart, but even they were required to keep their
distance.
Ah,
dear one, you’ve always been so determined to
do it on your own, to prove to yourself that it was
possible to forget, get lost, and then find your way
out, because you felt that’s how you’d find
your answer. Personally, we couldn’t imagine having
to forget ourselves. It would hurt too much. But you
did, and now you’ve finally remembered –
and you DID find the answer! So yeah, we’ve been
partying like crazy, celebrating YOU.
But
here’s what we really wanted to tell you, so listen
very carefully: Now that you have done this, now that
you have found your way out, now that you’re really
truly conscious creators, WE know it’s possible.
You see, we’re really like little kids. We don’t
know half of what you know, we haven’t seen one
tenth of what you’ve seen, or done even a fragment
of what you’ve done. We’ve just been sitting
back here waiting while you’ve been LIVING! So
now it’s our turn. We’re following in your
footsteps, coming up behind you because it’s time
for us to grow up too. One by one we’re working
up our nerve and diving in.
Time
and space – what an incredible creation! As we
get closer and peek over the edge, getting ready to
take the plunge, we want you to know that your heart
is glowing like the brightest beacon we’ve ever
seen. Dear Shaumbra, when you cry your tears and sing
your song and dance your own life, the rhythm rumbles
through the corridors of every realm. And WE are dancing
to it now, clapping in celebration for your graduation,
bowing in gratitude as you don the crimson robes of
victory.
You
won – over your doubt, your forgetting, your blindness,
and all the other obstacles you set up. You did it,
Shaumbra. Can you hear the roar of love as we cheer?
So
now, we’ll send YOU the postcards to let you know
how we’re doing. We know you won’t come
save us, but now, because of you, we know we’ll
make it. None of us would be here if not for what you’ve
done. None of us would know of life if not for who you
are. The universe is lit by the radiance of your hearts.
See
you on the other side, dear angel humans. Mission accomplished.
